SOUTH KOREA (July 27, 2025) — On this solemn anniversary, we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives during the Korean War and pay tribute to the families whose sacrifices echo through generations. The signing of the Armistice on July 27, 1953, marked not only the end of active hostilities but also the beginning of a steadfast commitment to peace and security on the Korean Peninsula.

The courage shown by Korean and United Nations Command forces, representing unprecedented global solidarity with 22 nations giving their blood and treasure in defense of freedom, continues to inspire us, having laid the foundation for the Republic of Korea's remarkable transformation and prosperity.
Today, we stand together, as allies and friends, united by shared values and a determination to uphold the legacy of those who served. This enduring legacy is embodied by the United Nations Command, which remains a living symbol of international resolve to defend peace through collective action. May we always remember their sacrifice, and may it guide our efforts to ensure continued vigilance, adaptability, and unwavering international cooperation to defend peace for today, give strength for tomorrow, and provide hope for generations to come.
