HONOLULU, Hawaii — Adm. Samuel J. Paparo, commander of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, welcomed the Consular Corps of Hawaii to connect with leadership at USINDOPACOM headquarters in Honolulu, Hawaii, on April 22, 2025.

Paparo met with the Consular Corps of Hawaii, including retired Lt. Gen. Dan “Fig” Leaf, Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Hawaii and former deputy commander of USINDOPACOM and also the Republic of Korea Consul General Lee, Seo Young. 

The Consular Corps includes official representatives for treaty allies – Australia, Republic of Korea, Japan, Philippines, and New Zealand – and honorary representatives from around the globe. During discussions, participants emphasized strengthening alliances through cultural and economic exchange, as well as robust military ties, in the face of global economic challenges. This visit strengthened the shared commitment of represented nations to a free and open Indo-Pacific. 

USINDOPACOM is committed to enhancing stability in the Indo-Pacific region by promoting security cooperation, encouraging peaceful development, responding to contingencies, deterring aggression, and prevailing in conflict when necessary.
