Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr., Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff, visited U.S. Indo-Pacific Command at Camp H.M. Smith during their visit to Honolulu, Nov. 17-19.

Marcos and Brawner met with Adm. John C. Aquilino, commander, USINDOPACOM, who provided an operational overview and discussed regional security cooperation.

The week prior to the visit of the president, Philippine and U.S. staff members conducted high-level exchanges and integrated planning efforts for future bilateral and multilateral training opportunities.

While in Hawaii, Marcos also met with Ambassador to the Philippines MaryKay Loss Carlson and Consul General of the Philippines Emil T. Fernandez, visited the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies, and participated in a wreath-laying at the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor.

The events further developed the strong democratic, economic and strategic partnership with the Philippines codified in the 1951 U.S.-Philippines Mutual Defense Treaty. USINDOPACOM is committed to enhancing stability in the Indo-Pacific region with its Allies and partners by promoting security cooperation, encouraging peaceful development, responding to contingencies, deterring aggression and, when necessary, fighting to win.
