JAKARTA, Indonesia -- An additional 400 ventilators from the United States have arrived in Indonesia, completing the donation of 1,000 ventilators pledged by President Trump to President Joko Widodo.

“This donation complements Indonesia’s ongoing efforts to combat COVID-19 and demonstrates the ongoing commitment of the United States to lead the global response to this unprecedented crisis– back home and around the world, together with our friends and allies,” said U.S. Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Heather Variava.

To date, more than 400 of the ventilators have been distributed to hospitals across Indonesia. The U.S. Government, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), will continue to work with the Indonesian Ministry of Health to facilitate the distribution of the ventilators across all 34 provinces while providing training to the appropriate personnel.

The United States is the largest contributor to global health, and continues to help friends and allies through an “All-of-America” effort that includes government, business, NGOs, and faith-based aid. Over the past 20 years, USAID has invested over $1 billion in Indonesia’s health sector, building a strong foundation for a more effective COVID-19 response. The ventilators are just one aspect of the U.S. Embassy’s emergency assistance to Indonesia in the fight against COVID-19 and build on the $11 million dollars the U.S. Government has invested in the fight against COVID-19 in Indonesia.
