ULAANBAATAR, Mongolia -- Canadian Army Warrant Officer Kyle Ho is a combat engineer with Canadian Maneuver Training Center and is participating in Khaan Quest 2019 at Five Hills Training Area, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, from June 14-28. Ho is a native of Wainwright, Alberta, Canada but was originally born in Taiwan. At the age of 14, he moved to Canada with his family and finished high school in Vancouver, British Columbia. After finishing high school, Ho enlisted in the Canadian Army and has loved the experience the Canadian military has given him.
Q: How do you like being in the Canadian Army?
A: "I love it. I love it a lot and I want to devote my entire self to Canadian forces. The opportunities and rewards provided for the job is just incomparable to anything else."
Q: What made you want to join?
A: "It’s like a childhood dream. In Taiwan, there is a mandatory military service for all men and since I was a kid, it was always my dream to serve my country in the military. But after I moved to Canada, I kind of thought ‘now what?’ A recruiter showed up just before I finished high school and presented me with a great opportunity. I thought ‘cool I can still serve, but this time as a Canadian.’ There was also the opportunity to travel around, see the world, and to help and serve. So I signed up without hesitation."
Q: How do you feel about participating in Khaan Quest 2019?
A: "I’m really excited to work with everyone. Everybody provides a different specialty they can bring to the table. The reason we are strong is because we are all working together. It blows me away to see so many militaries from all around the world all gathering here for the same purpose and same goal. It’s an amazing opportunity. You won’t see anywhere else where all these military gather together to share their experience and knowledge to help each other out and possibly make the world a better place."
