TACLOBAN, Philippines -- The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Preble (DDG 88) arrived in Phuket for a scheduled port visit, March 18.
During Prebel’s visit, her crew will take in local culture, go on tours of local attractions and have time to relax and to enjoy the city.
“As U.S. Navy Sailors, we are ambassadors of the United States and this port visit is a wonderful opportunity to strengthen ties in the Indo-Pacific region” said Cmdr. Leonardo Giovannelli, Preble’s commanding officer.
The routine port visit 1s part of the continuance of the relationship as treaty allies between the U.S. and Thailand.
The U.S. and Thailand have a friendship that is more than 200 years old and have been treaty allies for more than 180 years. The U.S. and Thailand plan to work together to continue advancements for both countries, the region, and beyond.
Preble is deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of security and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
