HONOLULU, Hawaii -- Members of Tripler Army Medical Center's Warrior Transition Battalion and U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii staff meet to discuss the first Pacific Warrior Game Trials to be held Nov. 5-11, 2017, at Schofield Barracks. In the past, more than 200 wounded, ill, and injured athletes have participated in the Regional and/or Army Trials.

Historically athletes from Hawaii have had to travel to CONUS to compete in both the Regional and Army Trials. Due to this travel requirement, not all athletes have had the opportunity to participate in the Trials/Games.

This year, the Regional Trials are conducted at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, to provide increased opportunities for Active, Reserve and National Guard Soldiers assigned to the Pacific region as well as veterans in Hawaii and neighboring U.S territories of American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands and other Pacific islands. Wounded and injured service members of the Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and invited International Armed Forces will also participate in the Pacific Trials.

The 2018 DoD Warrior Games is an adaptive sports competition for wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans. Approximately 250 athletes will participate in eight sporting events, representing teams from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy/Coast Guard, Air Force, U.S. Special Operations Command and the United Kingdom (U.K.) Armed Forces.

The DoD Warrior Games highlight the resiliency and warrior spirit of service members, veterans and their families and caregivers. Adaptive sports and athletic reconditioning activities play a fundamental role in the successful recovery and reintegration of our service members and veterans.
