CHANGI NAVAL BASE, Singapore -- Rear Adm. Richard A. Correll, commander Submarine Group 7, and his staff, met with representatives from the Republic of Singapore submarine force at Changi Naval Base April 10-12, in order to further bolster the already close relationship between the two navies.

The inaugural meeting was hosted by the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) Submarine Squadron 171. The discussions focused on how to improve interoperability and support future submarine operations.

The U.S. and Singaporean submarine forces also agreed to continue the annual affiliation program to reinforce their partnership. The U.S. Navy will host the next meeting with the potential of introducing its facilities in Guam to the RSN submarine force.

COMSUBGRU 7 is comprised of submarines deployed to the Western Pacific and the Middle East; two forward-deployed submarine tenders and four attack submarines homeported in Guam; Submarine Squadron 21 in Bahrain; five surveillance towed array sensor system vessels and three oceanographic survey vessels when tasked for Theater Anti-Submarine Warfare operations.
