JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii -- The United States military will be represented at the 2017 Australian International Airshow and Aerospace & Defence Exposition at Avalon Airport, Victoria, Australia, from Feb. 28 through March 5.
Approximately 80 U.S. personnel will facilitate a cross-section of U.S. military aircraft, which are scheduled for static displays and aerial demonstrations, including the U.S. Air Force’s F-22 Raptor, F-16 Fighting Falcon, B-1B Lancer, and KC-135 Stratotanker as well as the U.S. Navy’s P-8A Poseidon.
This year's airshow will feature demonstrations from Air Force F-22 Raptors assigned to the 3rd Wing, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, with assistance from Air Combat Command's F-22 Demonstration Team, 1st Fighter Wing, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.
Additionally, a B-1B Lancer with the 36th Wing, Andersen Air Force Base, Guam; F-16 Fighting Falcons with the 35th Fighter Wing, Misawa Air Base, Japan; and KC-135 Stratotankers with the 18th Wing, Kadena Air Base, Japan; will be present at the event. Naval personnel from Commander, Task Force 72, at Misawa Air Base, Japan, will accompany the P-8A.
The U.S. military is honored to participate in and represent the U.S. at AVALON 17. Support to airshows and other regional events allows the U.S. to demonstrate its commitment to the stability and security of the Indo-Asia-Pacific region, promote standardization and interoperability of equipment, and display capabilities critical to the success of military operations. It also serves to strengthen long-standing military-to-military relations between the U.S. and Australia.
