Chris ‘Robbo’ Robson joined the Royal Australian Air Force in Victoria in January 1993 and graduated from Officer Training School as a direct entry officer.
Specialising as an Air Battle Manager, Air Combat Officer Robson spent his early career working with air combat capabilities in both tactical employment and instructional roles. As part of the Air Battle Management category, Robson became intimately involved with the Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) High Frequency Radar System - from system delivery to operations capability.
Robson specialized in Space capability acquisition and operations and has served as the Chief of Strategic Guidance for the U.S. Joint Force Component Commander Space at Vandenberg AFB. Later he became the Chief of Australian Space Operations Centre and the Director of Space Control in Air Force Headquarters.
Robson has served as Commanding Officer No 1 Remote Sensor Unit (1RSU), which controls Australia’s tactical space capabilities, including JORN. Following this command, he joined Headquarters Joint Operations Command (HQJOC), performing duties as the Director of Domestic and Regional Operations. In this position, he directed all Australian Defence Force operations across the Indo-Pacific region.
Robson is a graduate of the Australian Command and Staff College and a Fellow of the Defence Strategic Studies Course at the Australian War College.
Air Commodore Chris Robson is married to Terrie and they have three adult children, Brodie, Grace and Lochlan.
