Deputy Director COL Edmund “Trey” Guy, is a native of the Hampton Roads area of Virginia and graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 2003 and was commissioned as an Air Defense Artillery Officer.
Prior to his arrival at US INDOPACOM, Trey was a student in the Army War College Class of 2024 where he was a part of the Advanced Strategic Arts Program Seminar. Previous non-command assignments include: Military Instructor/Assistant Professor, Joint and Combined Warfighting School, Norfolk, VA (2019-2021); AMD Planner and Red Team Leader, NATO Allied Rapid Reaction Corps – UK, Imjin Barracks, UK (2016-2019); Battalion S3 and XO, 5-5 ADA, Joint Base Lewis – McChord, WA (2014-2016) where he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Freedom’s Sentinel; Instructor Air Defense Captain’s Career Course, Fort Sill, OK (2011-2012); Assistant Battalion S3, 2-44 ADA, Fort Campbell, KY (2007); Avenger Platoon Leader and Avenger Battery XO 4-5 ADA, Fort Hood, TX (2004-2006).
His command assignments include: 23 months as the Commander, 2d Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 108th ADA Brigade, Fort Campbell, KY (2021-2023) where he deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve; 14 months as Commander, D Battery, 2d Battalion, 6th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 30th Brigade, Fort Sill, OK (2010-2011); 30 months as Commander, A Battery, 2d Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, Fort Campbell, KY (2007-2010), where he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
He is a graduate of the Air Defense Artillery Basic and Advanced Courses, Airborne School, Air Assault School, Ranger School, Army Command and General Staff College, Red Team Leaders Course, and the Joint and Combined Warfighting School, and most recently the Army War College.
He earned a Master of Science in Strategic Studies from the Army War College, a Master of Arts in Leadership from the University of Texas at El Paso, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from the Virginia Military Institute. Some of his awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (two awards), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), Joint Commendation Medal, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and Ranger Tab.
