Navy to Conduct Exercise Citadel Pacific 2019

20 June 2019

WASHINGTON (NNS) -- Navy installations in the Pacific will participate in an annual anti-terrorism force protection exercise June 24-28.

Exercise Citadel Pacific 2019 is designed to enhance the training, readiness and capability of Navy security forces in order to effectively respond to threats to installations, commands and units.

Joint Region Marianas, Navy Region Japan and Navy Region Hawaii along with their installations will participate in the exercise.

This annual exercise, which is conducted by Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet and Commander, Navy Installations Command, uses realistic scenarios to ensure U.S. Navy security forces maintain a high level of readiness to respond to changing and dynamic threats. The exercise is not in response to any specific threat.

Measures have been taken to minimize disruptions within local communities and to normal base operations, but there may be times when the exercise causes increased traffic around bases or delays in base access. Area residents may also see or hear security activities associated with the exercise. Advanced coordination has taken place with local law enforcement and first responders.

CNIC is comprised of approximately 52,000 military and civilian personnel worldwide responsible for the operations, maintenance and quality of life programs to support the Navy's fleet, fighters and their families.
