United States Army Pacific Command, Senior Enlisted Advisor, Visits Japan For Exercise Yama Sakura

CAMP HIGASHI-CHITOSE, HOKKAIDO, Japan -- Command Sgt. Maj. Benjamin Jones, United States Army Pacific Command Senior Enlisted Advisor, traveled to Camp-Chitose, on Hakkaido, Japan Dec. 11, 2018 to visit with Servicemembers participating in Exercise Yama Sakura 75.
Jones met with Northern Army Soldiers from the Japan Ground Self Defense Force, Soldiers from America's First Corps, United States Army Japan, and Navy, Air Force, and Marine Servicemembers from across the Pacific who gathered for the joint, bilateral exercise.
Yama Sakura 75 is the 37th iteration of the bilateral, command post exercise between the U.S. and Japan. The U. S. Army's, Americas First Corps and the JGSDF's Northern Army use the exercise to enhance their combat readiness, as well as demonstrate U.S. support to security interests of allies within the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
Yama Sakura focuses on the development and refinement of the Japan Ground Self- Defense Force (JGSDF) and U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC) efforts in the areas of coordination, interoperability, and bilateral planning through training.
