YAMAGUCHI, Japan - IWAKUNI, Japan (Sept. 22, 2025) — A U.S. Navy F-35C Lightning II jet with Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 147, Carrier Air Wing 5, conducts field carrier landing practice at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Sept. 18, 2025. Pilots aboard various aircraft at MCAS Iwakuni have to accumulate the required quantity of flying hours every month to maintain proficiency and expertise with their airframe via daily flight activities.
