TOKYO BAY (May 18, 2015) - Sailors aboard the aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) stand in formation selling "goodbye" in Japanese as the ship departs for its 2015 patrol. Following operations in U.S. 7th Fleet, George Washington will conduct a hull swap with the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) this summer, after having served as the U.S. Navy's forward deployed aircraft carrier for seven years. George Washington and its embarked air wing, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5, provide a combat-ready force that protects and defends the collective maritime interests of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
