Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel
Russel will travel to Manila, Philippines; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Bangkok,
Thailand; and Phnom Penh, Cambodia, January 18-28, to discuss a range of
bilateral, regional, and global issues.
Assistant Secretary Russel will be in Manila, January 20-21, and hold
bilateral meetings with Philippine government counterparts and co-lead the U.S.
delegation to the Bilateral Strategic Dialogue along with Assistant Secretary
for Defense David Shear.
He will then travel to Kuala Lumpur, January 21-24, to take part in
discussions with senior Malaysian government officials, opposition political
figures and civil society on a range of issues, including Malaysia's role as
2015 ASEAN chair.
In Bangkok, January 24-26, Assistant Secretary Russel will meet with civil
society representatives and Thai government officials, and give remarks at
Chulanglongkorn University of U.S. engagement in the region.
He will be in Phnom Penh, January 28-28, to meet with senior government
officials and civil society representatives.
Assistant Secretary Russel will return to Washington, D.C. on January 28.
