Major Neil Wahab, U.S. Army

Major Neil Wahab is the Headquarters, United States Indo-Pacific Command, Commandant, Camp Smith, Hawaii. He leads a 46-member joint team made up of military and civilian personnel.  He advises the Chief of Staff, United States Indo-Pacific Command, on all matters involving the day-to-day operations of the headquarters facility, business operations, the Flag Mess, command graphics, as well as the direction and oversight of the information, physical and personnel security sections which support the United States Indo-Pacific Command mission

Major Wahab was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant of Armor from the United States Military Academy at West Point, Class of 2001.  As a company grade officer, he was assigned to 3rd “Greywolf” Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division out of Fort Hood, Texas for nine years.  He spent the majority of this time with 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, serving as a Tank Platoon Leader, Battalion S1, Headquarters Company Executive Officer, Tank Company Commander, Headquarters Company Commander, and Rear-Detachment Commander.  During this period he deployed four times, including three combat tours to Iraq in support Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Starting in 2010, Major Wahab served for three years as a training staff officer and division chief inside G-3/5/7, Headquarters, Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) at Fort Monroe and Fort Eustis, Virginia.  In 2013, Major Wahab was assigned for three years to the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado and later Camp Buehring, Kuwait.  He served as the Operations Officer and Executive Officer for 1st Battalion, 68th Armor Regiment and the Deputy G3 for 4th Infantry Division.
