Over 2 years ago , I 00:21.459 --> 00:23.515 arrived here in Hawaii as the deputy 00:23.515 --> 00:25.570 commander of Navy Closure Task Force 00:25.570 --> 00:27.626 Red Hill , a new command tasked with 00:27.626 --> 00:29.626 permanently decommissioning the Red 00:29.626 --> 00:31.792 Hill bulk fuel storage facility safely 00:31.792 --> 00:33.737 and expeditiously while continuing 00:33.737 --> 00:35.903 long-term environmental remediation in 00:35.903 --> 00:37.903 coordination with state and federal 00:37.903 --> 00:40.126 stakeholders in order to protect public 00:40.126 --> 00:42.348 health and the environment . As my time 00:42.348 --> 00:44.515 with the Navy closure Task Force comes 00:44.515 --> 00:46.626 to an end , I reflect on my time with 00:46.626 --> 00:48.348 all of you . We have navigated 00:48.348 --> 00:50.292 significant obstacles and achieved 00:50.292 --> 00:52.459 notable progress together . Though the 00:52.459 --> 00:54.737 challenge was and still is significant , 00:54.737 --> 00:56.848 I found it my duty to do what I could 00:56.848 --> 00:59.015 and lead my team to meet our mission . 00:59.900 --> 01:02.122 I'm amazed at how far we have come over 01:02.122 --> 01:04.344 the last year and a half since the NCTF 01:04.344 --> 01:06.344 was officially stood up in March of 01:06.344 --> 01:09.269 2024 . I'd like to extend my gratitude 01:09.269 --> 01:11.325 for the sailors and civilians of the 01:11.325 --> 01:13.213 Navy Closure Task Force for their 01:13.213 --> 01:15.436 unwavering commitment and dedication to 01:15.436 --> 01:17.436 our mission .
