WASHINGTON, District of Columbia - In this file photo, Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Mike Gilday gives remarks before presenting Capt. Adam J. Thomas, former commanding officer, Ohio-class ballistic-missile submarine USS Alaska (SSBN 732) (Gold), and Cmdr. John W. Keefe, commanding officer, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit Five (EODMU 5), with the 2022 Vice Admiral James Bond Stockdale Leadership Award during a ceremony held in the Hall of Heroes at the Pentagon, November 17, 2022. The Stockdale Leadership Award is presented annually to recognize commanding officers, one from the Pacific Fleet and one from the Atlantic Fleet, who demonstrate inspirational leadership, both professionally and personally, while also contributing to the improvement of leadership in the Navy.
