JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska - U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Jill Reed, Air Force Civil Engineer Center’s Airfield Pavement Evaluation Team superintendent, checks a special heavy falling weight Dynatest deflectometer, during an evaluation of Bryant Army Airfield at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska Dec. 17, 2018. A two-person team used non-destructive testing to assess potential non-visible pavement damage at all of JBER’s airfields following the Nov. 30, 7.0 magnitude earthquake, whose epicenter was located just north of the base. The deflectometer simulates 55,000 pounds of weight hitting the pavement at once.
