Battling high winds and frigid temperatures, seismic maintainers from the Air Force Technical Applications Center, Patrick AFB, Fla., receive fuel resupply via helicopter from the National Science Foundation at AFTAC’s repeater site at Mt. Newell, Antarctica.  The Airmen use the fuel to power the batteries that are the energy source for their seismic data collection equipment, radios and other communications functions.
