WASHINGTON –
Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel met with India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Blair House yesterday to discuss a range of bilateral defense issues they face, Pentagon Press Secretary Navy Rear Adm. John Kirby told reporters.
The meeting, Kirby said, is a follow-up on their talks in New Delhi last month.
“In the meeting, Secretary Hagel noted the progress made during last week's consultations between Undersecretary [Frank] Kendall and the Indian Ministry of Defense on the Defense, Trade, and Technology Initiative, otherwise known as DTTI,” the admiral said.
Kirby explained the two leaders also affirmed the importance of military-to-military engagement to the overall U.S.-India relationship, and discussed threats that ISIL and other violent extremist groups pose.
