Singapore's Top Defense Chief Honors the Fallen during Trip to Washington

Lt. Gen. Ng Chee Meng, Chief of Defense Force, Singapore Armed Forces, paid his respects to America's fallen during an Armed Forces Full Honors Wreath Laying ceremony with Maj. Gen. Jeffrey S. Buchanan, Joint Force Headquarters-National Capital Region/U.S. Army Military District of Washington commanding general, at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery, Va.

Following the wreath laying ceremony Ng presented the Tomb of the Unknowns a plaque inscribed with the motto of the Singapore Armed Forces, Yang Pertama Dan Utama, which means 'First and Foremost'.

Ng stopped in Washington, D.C., during his eight day introductory visit to the United States. Later in the day Ng visited the Pentagon to meet with U.S. Joint Chief of Staff, Gen. Martin Dempsey to discuss matters of mutual interest. Following his departure from Washington, D.C., Ng was scheduled to travel to Colorado Spring, Colo., to meet with officials from U.S. Northern Command and visit the United States Air Force Academy. He is scheduled to conclude his U.S. visit in San Diego, Calif.
