MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan -- In the midst of a Senior Officers Leadership Course tour, 49 Japanese and Republic of Korea lieutenant colonels and colonels visited Misawa Air Base to better understand the United States' air and naval mission capabilities here Dec. 13.
The senior leaders from the Japanese air force, navy and army received a mission and F-16 Fighting Falcon brief by Col. Travis Rex, the 35th Fighter Wing vice commander, and learned the abilities of the Navy P-8 Poseidon and EA-18G Growler.
“It is very important for these top leaders to understand what Misawa Air Base Airmen contribute to the overall joint security environment in Japan and Republic of Korea,” said Rex. “We have a very strong relationship with our counterparts and we want them to know we are there for them during times of distress.”
The group of senior leaders already visited Chitose Air Base and Maritime Self-Defense Force Ohminato District Fleet and will stay in Hokkaido for the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Northern army visit.
