Director, Logistics and Engineering

Major General Gavin J. Gardner, U.S. Army

Maj. Gen. Gavin J. Gardner assumed the duties of Director for Logistics & Engineering (J4), U.S. Indo-Pacific Command in June 14, 2022. The J4 is responsible for the planning, coordination, and integration of strategic Logistics and Engineering in support of operations across the Indo-Pacific region.

Maj. Gen. Gardner is a third generation Army brat and an Army Logistician. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Ordnance Corps branch, detailed to the Armor Corps in 1992

He earned a three-year Army ROTC Scholarship and is a Distinguished Military Graduate from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration Degree in Production and Operations Management in 1992. He earned a Master’s of Science in Logistics Management from the Florida Institute of Technology in 2002, and a Master’s of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College in 2014.

Maj. Gen. Gardner’s awards and achievements include: one Joint Meritorious Unit Award, one Valorous Unit Award, and two Meritorious Unit Commendations, the Legion of Merit (2 Oak Leaf Cluster), the Bronze Star Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), the Meritorious Service Medal (6 Oak Leaf Clusters), the Combat Action Badge, and Parachutist Wings.
