  • 19 May 2012 -- Military Appreciation Day at the Honolulu Zoo. FREE entrance to the Honolulu Zoo from 9 am to 2 pm. This event is free for all Military ID Card Holders, including retirees and National Guardsmen and women. One ID Card Holder can bring in the whole family. Free entrance is located at the Monsarrat Gate. There will also be a FREE Shuttle Bus Service from Schofield Barracks.   • 9 June 2012 -- All Military Surf Classic: Participate in this exciting surfing competition as the surfers battle it out for the chance to be the 2012 All-Military Surf Classic winner on June 9.   • 25 - 28 June 2012 and 9 - 12 July 2012 -- The YMCA Camp Erdman will be hosting a Hawaiian Adventure Camp for military teens in Hawaii or the Pacific Rim, ages 14-18. Participation in the Hawaii Adventure Camp will enhance problem solving, self-responsibility and decision making skills, as well as provide youth with an opportunity to form strong connections with other military youth from the Pacific Rim region. Both camps will have a maximum of 40 teens. To reserve a spot, teens must complete an application with all of the required information and documents plus send in a $25 deposit. This is on a first come first served basis. Applications and all other required forms are due 4 weeks before the camp start date.   • 18 August 2012 -- Tripler Fisher House will be hosting a Hero & Remembrance run in conjunction with the Pacific Aviation Museum's Biggest Little Airshow.  For the Fisher House part there will be a section that will feature some of the military and civilian groups that help support families who are going through a medical crisis as well as groups that have programs to support Troops and their families. Admission is free and shirts will be available for purchase with all proceeds going to support the Tripler Fisher House.   • January-September, 2012 -- With election activity steadily picking up, defense officials are in the process of issuing regular election-year guidance to remind military and Defense Department civilians that they're subject to rules regulating their involvement in political activities.


  • March - July 2012 -- Take the USPACOM Military Child Education in Hawaii survey. This fifteen minute survey could impact the quality of your child's education in Hawaii. This survey is for families stationed in Hawaii with school age children ages 5 to 10. Children 10 years and older can also complete the survey and enter to win prizes.   • April to December 2012 -- Action Officer's Council Meeting Announcement. Do you have ideas that would save you or your co-workers time, save the command money and man-hours, or improve division or Command morale?  Want to see YOUR idea implemented?
