COPE TIGER (CT) is an annual USPACOM scheduled, PACAF sponsored, CJCS funded multi-lateral field training exercise involving the USAF, US Marine Corps, Royal Thai Air Force, and the Republic of Singapore Air Force. Exercise Goals include improvement of interoperability between allied forces while sharpening air combat skills, promotion of closer relations among Thailand, Singapore, and the United States that supports U.S. policy of maintaining a regional presence in Southeast Asia. |

BALIKATAN 2005 (BK 05) |

The BALIKATAN exercise series is structured to attain CDR USPACOM's objectives that meet agreements outlined in the Mutual Defense Treaty. This exercise is structured to further develop the AFP ability to effectively conduct counterterrorism operations and improve staff planning. Due to South East Asia Tsunami Disaster Relief efforts, HQ USPACOM has canceled BALIKATAN 05 Command Post and Staff Exercises and reduced the scope of the Field Training Exercise. Civil Military Operations (CMO) events using Humanitarian and Civic Assistance (HCA) funding and supporting activities are now the central focus of this exercise. |

RECEPTION, STAGING, ONWARD-MOVEMENT, AND INTEGRATION / FOAL EAGLE (RSOI) 2005 |

Executes: March timeframe, annually
RSOI is one of two annual command post exercises (CPX) held by US Forces Korea (USFK) and conducted with the armed forces of the Republic of Korea (ROK). Conducted every February/March, RSOI focuses on USPACOM and Combined Forces Command (CFC) OPLANs that support the defense of the ROK. Held concurrently with RSOI is FOAL EAGLE, a series of joint/combined field training exercises (FTX), generally not linked with the RSOI CPX. Anywhere from 4,000 - 7,000 US personnel flow to the Korean peninsula in support of these FTXs. RSOI has evolved into a two-part exercise, labeled Parts A and B. During Part A (tier 1), the primary training audience is HQ USPACOM staff. Part B focuses on OPLAN force flow and sustainment with the training audience being Combined Forces Command/USFK. The executive agent for RSOI is USFK.

COBRA GOLD 2005 (CG 05) |

COBRA GOLD (CG) is an annual multilateral exercise that demonstrates USPACOM's capability to project force strategically by rapidly deploying a CTF to conduct Joint/Combined operations. The exercise scenario content is designed toward peace operations and consequence management emphasizing the challenges on the war on terrorism. Training is multilateral, multi-service, interagency, realistic and geared toward the most likely contingency operations in theater - UN PKO/PEO/CM/CT. Due to South East Asia Tsunami Disaster Relief efforts, HQ USPACOM has re-scoped CG 05's Command Post Exercise to a Multinational Workshop and Staff Exercise. HQ USPACOM is considering additional ENCAP/MEDCAP sites within the Tsunami affected areas. CG 05 will be the 24th iteration in the CG series. |

HONG KONG SAREX 2005 (HKS 05) |

HONG KONG SAREX 2005 is a multinational exercise practicing peacetime search and rescue (SAR) operations with the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department (CAD) and the Peoples Liberation Army - Navy. Traditionally conducted in the November and December months, HKS 05 will execute in May 05. The reason given by the Hong Kong CAD is to allow for more time to plan. The U.S. Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard have been participants in this exercise since 1976. No Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) exists with the Peoples Republic of China. Units operate under existing arrangements for Navy port of calls. This exercise promotes regional security and interoperability.

TALISMAN SABER 2005 (TS 05) |

TALISMAN SABER 2005 (TS 05) is a biennial Australia/United bilateral exercise merging Exercises TANDEM THRUST, KINGFISHER and CROCODILE. TALISMAN SABER is the primary training venue for Commander Seventh Fleet as a Combined Task Force (CTF) in a short warning, power projection, forcible entry scenario. TS 05 includes a Command Post Exercise (CPX), a force on force and live fire Field Training Exercise (FTX), Maritime Preposition Offload FREEDOM BANNER, a strategic air drop and SOF training modules. Key exercise objectives include: establishing and augmenting a CTF, use of the USPACOM Multinational Forces SOP (MNF SOP), exercising a Combined Force Air Component Commander (CFACC) and incorporating combined transformation initiatives. Over 15,000 Australia and US forces are expected to participate in TS 05. The exercise will be a key opportunity to train Australian and US combined forces in mid to high-intensity combat operations using training areas in Australia. |

ULCHI FOCUS LENS (UFL) 2005 |

UFL is a USPACOM exercise conducted with US Forces Korea (USFK) and the armed forces of the Republic of Korea (ROK). The exercise is a US-ROK, simulation-driven, OPLAN oriented Command Post Exercise (CPX) held annually in August in the ROK comprising of two events: Ulchi - a ROK national mobilization exercise involving several hundred thousand ROK citizens practicing wartime activation and traveling to mobilization sites; and Focus Lens - a CFC warfighting CPX. Although there are a significant number of personnel involved with the mobilization portion, this exercise is separate and distinct from the CPX. UFL is the Combined Forces Command (CFC) CDR's premier annual war fighting exercise. During the exercise 3,000 US personnel will travel to the Korean Peninsula and augment the CFC/USFK staff. The executive agent for UFL is USFK.

NORTHERN EDGE 2005 (NE 05) |

NORTHERN EDGE (NE) is Alaska's premier joint training exercise designed to practice operations, and enhance interoperability among the services. ALCOM is the Executive Agent for the annually conducted exercise that involves over 6,500 participants from the Navy, Army, Marines, National Guard, Special Operations Forces, and Coast Guard. PACOM and NORTHCOM share NE as a training venue with PACOM owning NE in the even years and NORTHCOM in the odd years. Even year NE are two weeks long and will focus on air-centric OPLAN modules, maritime interdiction, transformation initiatives and personnel recovery. Odd year NE are one week long and focuses on Homeland Defense. |

ARCTIC SAREX 2005 (AS 05) |

ARCTIC SAREX 2005 is a trilateral exercise between the U.S., Russian Republic and Canada. Exercise hosting responsibilities are rotated between the three countries on an annual basis with last year's exercise being hosted in Russia. The objective of the exercise is to continue working on the interoperability of U.S./Russian/Canadian Search and Rescue (SAR) forces, and the exchange of information on extreme cold weather rescue techniques. This year the host for the exercise is the U.S., and the venue is Eielson AFB, Alaska. This exercise supports CDR USPACOM intent to foster military-to-military contacts with the Russian Federation, and to strengthen the trilateral spirit of cooperation. |

KEEN EDGE (KE) 2006 & 2007 |

KEEN EDGE (KE) is a joint/bilateral Command Post Exercise (CPX) conducted to increase combat readiness and interoperability of U.S. and Japan Self-Defense Forces in the defense of Japan against aggression. KE 06 will focus on bilateral coordination, NEO, ballistic missile defense, force protection, and logistical throughput/host nation support, while including modules related to other key areas of interest such as, area air defense and airspace control, counter-/anti-terrorism within Japan, political-military issues, intelligence operations, information operations, consequence management, and maritime interdiction operations. KE has traditionally been an even-year CPX, while alternating with KEEN SWORD, an odd-year FTX. However, beginning in FY07, this rotation will change. KE will occur as usual in FY06, then again in FY07. KE will then be conducted during the odd years thereafter. The executive agent for KE is USFJ.

KEEN SWORD (KS) 2008 |

KEEN SWORD (KS) is a joint/bilateral Field Training Exercise (FTX) conducted with the Japanese Self-Defense Force (JSDF). The FTX is conducted during the odd years and integrates four component FTXs under one unified joint umbrella:
- KEEN SWORD AIR (COPE NORTH). Joint-Bilateral exercise involving air forces from USAF, USN, USMC, USA and Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF).
- KEEN SWORD GROUND (FOREST LIGHT). USMC, USA, USAF and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) joint bilateral exercise.
- KEEN SWORD GROUND (ORIENT SHIELD). USA, USMC, USAF and JGSDF Joint-Bilateral exercise.
- KEEN SWORD MARITIME (ANNUAL-EX). USN and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) joint bilateral exercise.
The next iteration of KS will be in Nov 08 as KS 08. KS will then be conducted during the even years thereafter. The executive agent for KS is USFJ. |
