Exercise Valiant Shield wrapped up over the weekend. Formerly known as JASEX, Valiant Shield is one of the largest annual exercises in the Western Pacific. This year's exercise involved about 30 ships, 280 aircraft, and 22,000 airmen, sailors, soldiers and marines working together to enhance joint combat skills and interoperability. As TSgt Chris Vadnais reports, the air component of the exercise was orchestrated from Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii.

THE KENNEY HEADQUARTERS AIR OPERATIONS CENTER PROVIDED COMMAND AND CONTROL TO ALL THE AIR ASSETS IN EXERCISE VALIANT SHIELD 2006. THAT INCLUDED NAVY ASSETS, SO ABOUT 35 SAILORS DEPLOYED TO HICKAM TO CREATE A JOINT ENVIRONMENT.
