3rd Munitions Squadron Airmen Build New Bombs, Lethality

JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska - Airmen assigned to the 3rd Munitions Squadron train while assembling a 2,000-pound Guided Bomb Unit 31 version 3 at the Bomb Assembly Pad on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Dec. 18, 2019. The Airmen normally build 1,000-pound guided bomb units called GBU-32s, but because they could be deployed or on temporary duty working with multiple aircraft, they’re now training with 11 different bombs and variants making them more effective.
