CAMP SMITH, Hawaii (Aug. 7, 2019) – Commander U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM), Adm. Phil Davidson, speaks at the Strategic Discussions on U.S. Support of Health and Healthcare in Oceana Conference hosted by the University of Hawaii and USINDOPACOM. University of Hawaii and USINDOPACOM brought together more than 100 regional and healthcare professionals from the military, Center for Disease Control, USAID, and other organizations to discuss issues ranging from infectious diseases, food security, training, and medical infrastructure in the region.

Steven Stougard, command chaplain, USS Wasp (LHD 1), from Vashon Island, Washington, delivers a prayer during a wreath laying ceremony held in remembrance of the aircraft carrier USS Wasp (CV-7) aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1). Wasp, flagship of the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, with embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, is operating in the Indo-Pacific region to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready response force for any type of contingency.

GRESIK DISTRICT, Indonesia (Aug. 5, 2019) Mark McGovern, U.S. Consul General in Surabaya, Indonesia, Dr. Sambari Halim Radianto, head of Gresik District Government, and Indonesian Navy Kolonel Laut Eka Prabawa, assistant for maritime potential, cut a ribbon to mark the completion of a construction project at the SDN Duduk Sampeyan Elementary School during Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Indonesia 2019. During the project, U.S. Navy Seabees assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 4 and Indonesian Marines assigned to the 2nd Engineering Battalion built a two-room classroom wired to support 20 computers. This year marks the 25th iteration of CARAT, a multinational exercise designed to enhance U.S. and partner navies' abilities to operate together in response to traditional and non-traditional maritime security challenges in the Indo-Pacific region. PORT HUENEME, Calif. " Petty Officer 2nd Class Zachary Schulte, NAVFAC EXWC, being decontaminated utilizing the ESSM DECON Kit during a contaminated water dive scenario as part of CONDIVEX 2019. NAVFAC EXWC Dive Locker hosts a Contaminated Water Diving Exercise. The 1-week event included a multi-service emergency response and multiple casualty incident scenario as part of Coastal Trident 2019 to support U.S. Navy science and technology initiatives. EXWC divers and support personnel participated in low-risk diving exercises to help evaluate and develop technologies to meet Fleet needs. 84th Engineer Civic Action Team Deploys to Palau for 50th Anniversary

The 84th Engineer Battalion deploys Civic Action Team Palau 84-06 for the 50th anniversary of the tri-service Civic Action Team program from August 2019 to February 2020.  The team works directly with the host nation to provide general engineering support, apprenticeship training, medical outreach, and community programs for the people of Palau.
