First F-35B Power Module, Engine Swap Take Place on USS America

161104-N-VR008-0102 PACIFIC OCEAN (Nov. 4, 2016) An F-35B Lightning II aircraft takes off from the flight deck of amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) during flight operations. The F-35B short takeoff/vertical landing (STOVL) variant is the world’s first supersonic STOVL stealth aircraft. America, with Marine Operational Test and Evaluation Squadron 1 (VMX-1), Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 211 (VMFA-211) and Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 23 (VX-23) embarked, are underway conducting operational testing and the third phase of developmental testing for the F-35B Lightning II aircraft, respectively. The tests will evaluate the full spectrum of joint strike fighter measures of suitability and effectiveness in an at-sea environment. ROK-U.S. Combined Division Honors Veterans, Past and Present

Navy Families Take Back the Night for Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Awareness

SINGAPORE (Nov. 7, 2016) – Aria Terry, sets a glow lantern afloat at Navy Region Singapore’s Terror Club during an event to raise awareness about domestic violence and sexual assault, Nov. 4, 2016. The lanterns symbolize giving hope and empowerment to those victims of sexual assault and domestic violence around the world. Military service members and their families along with DoD civilians assigned to Navy Region Singapore walked along the streets of Sembawang, Singapore to raise awareness and support for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. The event entitled, Take Back the Night, included more than 30 participants who gathered to peacefully march along the streets of Singapore and take back the fear that is surrounded by the belief that violence is perpetrated by strangers in the night. Frank Cable Returns from Indo-Asia-Pacific Region Deployment

Submarine tender USS Frank Cable (AS 40) passes the U.S. Navy's only other submarine tender, USS Emory S. Land (AS 39), in Apra Harbor following Frank Cable's return to home port this morning after completing a five-month deployment, Nov, 8, 2016. Frank Cable departed Guam June 6 and was a persistent presence throughout the Indo-Asia-Pacific region during its deployment, providing vital flexibility to the fleet commanders and extending the range and impact of U.S. naval forces in the U.S. Navy's 5th and 7th Fleets. Forward deployed to Guam, Frank Cable's combined Navy and Military Sealift Command's crew's mission is to provide critical warfighting repairs, rearmament and reprovisioning to deployed naval forces of the United States.

Regional Health Command-Pacific hosts Asia-Pacific Military Medicine Roundtable

Brig. Gen. Bertram Providence, commanding general, Regional Health Command-Pacific (RHC-P) hosted the Asia-Pacific Military Medicine Roundtable (APMMR), Nov. 7, at RHC-P headquarters in Hawaii. Providence addressed the attendees, which included leaders from around the Pacific region. During opening remarks, Providence emphasized the importance of senior leader engagements, highlighting the importance of the APMMR roundtable which facilitates relationship building in order to foster the strength and depth needed to endure times of crisis. The APMMR roundtable also allows the Pacific region to continue to leverage its medical capabilities, maintaining strategic influence while serving as good will ambassadors on behalf of Army Medicine.
