A Message from President Biden to President Joko Widodo on Republic of Indonesia’s Independence Day

U.S. Embassy & Consulates in Indonesia

U.S. Embassy & Consulates in Indonesia -- On behalf of the United States of America, I send my warmest wishes to you and the people of Indonesia as you celebrate 76 years of independence on August 17. The United States greatly values Indonesia’s democratic leadership in the Indo‑Pacific.

The close strategic partnership between our two countries is more important now than ever. We look forward to working together to deepen our economic and people-to-people ties, fight the COVID-19 pandemic and drive green recovery, and promote peace and stability throughout the Indo-Pacific region and beyond.

The United States celebrates this Indonesian Independence Day with you as friends and partners.

Sincerely,
Joseph R. Biden Jr.
