Army Surgeon General and Command Sergeant Major Tour Korea

U.S. ARMY GARRISON HUMPHREYS - PYEOUNGTAEK, Republic of Korea -- The Army Surgeon General, Lt. Gen. Nadja West, visited the Republic of South Korea September 20-22, 2017. Command Sgt. Maj. Gerald C. Ecker, command sergeant major, Medical Command (MEDCOM), accompanied the surgeon general.

Dual-hatted as the MEDCOM commanding general, West oversees more than 48 medical treatment facilities providing care to nearly four million active-duty members of all services, retirees and their family members. She is also responsible for the development, policy direction, organization and overall management of an integrated Army-wide health service system and is the medical materiel developer for the Army.

During their tour of U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys, the duo were given a tour of the new Soldier Center Medical Home, the Carius Dental Treatment Facility which is the largest in the Department of Defense, the Veterinary Treatment Facility as well as the construction site of the new Brian Allgood Army Community Hospital.
