USS Chancellorsville Begins Patrol Providing Maritime Security to Indo-Asia-Pacific Region

YOKOSUKA, Japan (June 18, 2015) - The Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Chancellorsville (CG 62) arrives at Commander Fleet Activities Yokosuka to join the Forward-Deployed Naval Forces deployed to Japan. Chancellorsville recently completed a combat systems update with the latest Aegis Baseline 9 combat system. Chancellorsville is the first U.S. Navy ship to forward-deploy with that capability to help ensure the U.S. is best positioned to provide security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific Region.

The five-day quarterly operational readiness exercise enhanced strategic capabilities at Kunsan by generating combat airpower in a simulated chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high-yield explosive environment.
